9 March to 23 July 2011 - Search for Missing Skier in Lone Peak Area

The majority of the BSSAR membership spent many days and hours between the 9th of March and the 23rd of July searching for a missing skier. The general area of the search was southwest of the Lone Peak Tram as the skier frequented the side country area known as the Lone Lake Cirque. Assisting in the search efforts were the Gallatin Country Search and Rescue; Big Sky and Moonlight Ski Patrol. Heavy snows, incremental weather and high avalanche warnings hampered the ongoing search. The body of the missing skier was located on July 23rd near Lone Lake.
